We’ve got some exciting news! Our website, White Widget (whitewidget.com), has won Gold in the Website Design category at the 8th Indigo Design Awards, and is shortlisted for Digital Design of the Year.
Out of hundreds of global entries, only six finalists were selected for this category. According to Indigo Design Awards:
“These hand-picked projects represent the highest level of creativity, innovation, and design excellence. But the journey doesn’t end here—shortlisted winners will now compete for the coveted Indigo trophy, and the final winners will be revealed during the official award ceremony in Bangkok this May.”
It’s an honour to see the website we crafted to express our identity now recognised among the best in the world. See our winning entry
From the outset, we made a choice: to design not from the digital world, but from the physical one. While many tech sites draw from generic “digital” aesthetics, we wanted to bring something richer — something tactile, familiar, and full of curiosity. We asked ourselves: What sparks imagination? What invites exploration Our answer was to look at the objects and experiences that shaped us:
This inspiration led to our sci-fi manual aesthetic, a deliberate blend of real-world references and forward-looking design.
From the layout to the illustrations, everything was lovingly hand-crafted by our design team. The visual language mirrors technical manuals.
These choices serve a clear function: to reduce cognitive load while sparking visual interest. In Jakob Nielsen’s terms, we designed for recognition over recall. Meaning, we enable users to instantly understand the layout and flow, even on first visit.
The challenge wasn’t just aesthetic — it was strategic. Our audiences are diverse:
What unites them is a shared desire to understand how things work. So, we crafted an experience that rewards curiosity:
The result is a site that feels both practical and aspirational — a space where visitors can quickly grasp what we do, or dive deeper to explore how we think.
Since the website launch in 2022, feedback has been immediate and enthusiastic. Clients, peers, and even competitors have commented on how the site feels different — functional yet playful, technical yet human. Some even admitted (with a smile) to using our design as inspiration for their own projects. We take that as the highest compliment. And while the recognition from Indigo Design Awards is exciting, what matters most to us is that the site does its job: communicating our values, our process, and our passion for well-crafted software. We’ll be sharing more soon in our Rebranding Breakdown — a deeper look at the strategy, the visual system, and the design choices behind whitewidget.com.
As we look ahead to the Indigo Awards ceremony in Bangkok this May, we’re proud of how far this project has come. Whether or not we take home Digital Design of the Year, this recognition affirms what we set out to prove: Good design is not about trends — it’s about craftsmanship, clarity, and care. To our team: this win is yours. To our clients and future partners: if you’re looking for award-winning UX and end-to-end software solutions, let’s talk.
